Job Summary: | |
The Linux Administrator is responsible for defining, implementing, maintaining, supporting, tuning and troubleshooting software and hardware infrastructure relating to Linux servers, clusters, workstations and storage area networks. The Linux Administrator is also responsible for aspects of storage management.

Job Responsibilities: | |
- Define, implement, maintain, support, tune and troubleshoot software and hardware infrastructure relating to Linux servers, clusters and workstations.
- Configure, secure and replicate DHCP/DNS with ISC dhcpd and BIND named servers.
- Management of user accounts in a LDAP and Kerberos environment.
- Design and implement system monitoring software in a multi-platform environment.
- Develop, implement and oversee policies and procedures to ensure storage provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals and objectives.
- Provide efficient and reliable storage allocation and defined backup, recovery and archival procedures.
- Develop and implement business continuity practices for storage management.

Job Skills/ Abilities: | |
- Expertise with Linux in a SAN environment.
- Experience in a web services environment (IIS/Apache and Oracle preferred).
- Perl/Python/Bash scripting experience.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations in a professional manner.

Job Requirements: | |
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or IT-related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Hands-on experience in the following: optimizing and tuning Linux kernel (including kernel recompiles), disks (RAID and SAN), network protocols, LDAP, Kerberos, Apache, Sendmail, BIND and NFS.
- Minimum of 3 years Linux experience in an enterprise environment.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a storage area network environment.
- Experience with highly available solutions / architectures.
- Familiarity with open source tools, both using common software (compilers, tools, libraries, techniques, etc.) and building from source.
