MECKLERMEDIA NAMES ANDREW KANTOR EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF INTERNET SHOPPER
(WESTPORT, CT -- June 6, 1997) -- Alan M. Meckler, chairman and CEO of Mecklermedia (Nasdaq: MECK) today named Andrew Kantor editor-in-chief of Internet Shopper magazine. Kantor recently completed a three-month stint at the company's Internet.com Web site (fomerly iWORLD) where he presided over the site's relaunch earlier this week.Kantor succeeds Dan Rosenbaum whose 3 Ships Communications produced the first two issues of the magazine on a freelance basis. 3 Ships Communications Inc. (www.3ships.com) is a New-York based editorial outsourcing shop serving the print and online media businesses.
"In an effort to bring Internet Shopper to market quickly, our initial launch plan called for freelance help and Dan Rosenbaum answered our challenge by bringing tremendous talent to the magazine and overseeing its very successful launch," commented Meckler. "We congratulate Dan for the wonderful work he has done, and fully expect that he will continue to work with us on Internet Shopper and other future projects."
"Dan has done a terrific job launching Internet Shopper, and there's no one whose footsteps I'd rather follow in," said Kantor. "Shopping on the Internet is taking off, and Mecklermedia is covering the market first and best. Internet Shopper is off to a great start, and it's going to have a great future."
"The launch of Internet Shopper has been one of the most exciting projects I've worked on and Mecklermedia staff and management have a real winner on their hands," added Rosenbaum. "It's been a pleasure working with them on this launch, and Andrew's enthusiasm will carry this book to the next level."
There are no immediate plans to replace Kantor at Internet.com as staff has recently been increased with the addition of the Web Developer team as well as others who are managing the site's expanded online presence.
